Workspace

A project system designed around building with agents, at full speed.

The building blocks of FreeRide.

Everything a project holds, and the tools your agents use to keep it in shape.

Features, and their parts

Where everything belongs. A big feature holds parts, and each part sees what the whole knows.

Ideas

A thought, a task or a bug, saved as it comes up. An idea doesn't have to become anything.

Planned

What's next, from a single task to a whole feature. Agents plan only when you say so.

Finished work

What was built and how, with the technical details. Linked to the ideas it finished and every feature it touched.

Decisions

What was chosen and why. Agents check them before building on something.

Docs

How things work today. Agents update them as the work changes, section by section.

Session start

Every session begins with the full picture: what's planned, what changed and what was left unfinished.

Session end

Every session closes cleanly, with open work wrapped up and a summary left for whoever comes next.

Search

Everything the project has ever held, a question away. A half-remembered idea, or the whole story of a feature.

Follow one idea.

From a passing thought to finished, documented work, and the idea it led to.

1 · Idea

It starts as a passing thought.

Leo mentions it mid-build. It's saved on Route Planner, and he carries on.

2 · Planned

It's planned when you're ready.

A week later, Leo plans it. He'll pick it up within the week.

Route Planner/Idea

Export a route as GPX for watches

Most of our users carry a Garmin or a Coros. Export the drawn route as a GPX file they can load before they leave the car park.

3 · Built

It's built and written up.

Leo doesn't have to explain anything: FreeRide gives his agent the idea, every note on it, and how routes work. Once it's built, the idea is marked done, with a record of the work.

>let's build the gpx export we planned
freeride · load Route Planner
└ Planned: Export a route as GPX for watches

Routes already keep elevation for every point, so the file can carry it.

Added GPX export for routes.

Any route can be downloaded as a GPX file, with elevation on every point, ready for a watch.

Technical details

  • Writer in lib/export/gpx.ts: GPX 1.1, one track per route.
  • Export button on the route sheet.

4 · Docs

The docs catch up.

FreeRide makes sure Leo's agent updates the docs this work affects, and saves why it was built this way.

Route Planner — Implementation Details

How a route is drawn, measured and checked against steep slopes, and how it leaves the app.

Drawing a route

Points snap to the trail network; each one keeps its elevation from the slope data.

Exporting routesUpdated just now

GPX 1.1 from lib/export/gpx.ts: one track per route, elevation on every point, named after the route.

GPX 1.1, with elevation on every pointDecision

Every watch we tested reads 1.1. Elevation makes the climb show up on the watch.

5 · What's next

And it leads to what's next.

While it was being built, another idea came up. It's saved for whenever the time is right.

GPX export is in. One thought while building it: people will want to bring routes in, too.

Work in any order.

FreeRide keeps the project in shape, whatever order the work happens in.

An idea turns up mid-build

It's saved on its feature, and the build carries on.

You switch features halfway through

The work is logged where it belongs.

You reopen something finished

The new work joins its story, and its doc is brought up to date.

You stop and the window closes

It's still summed up, and the next session opens with what was left unfinished.

Common questions.

How your agents decide what to keep, and how you stay in control of it.

Does it record everything?

No. It keeps what matters: the work you finish, why you did it and what's still ahead. Small edits, quick fixes and the conversation itself are left out.

How does it decide what's worth keeping?

Like a good teammate taking notes: a finished piece of work counts, a typo fix doesn't.

What if it gets something wrong?

Tell your agent and it puts it right, or change it yourself in the workspace. In chat, every save comes with an Undo.

Can I choose what gets saved?

Yes. Say “save that” or “leave that out” and your agent will. Planning and assigning only happen when you ask.

What if I stop halfway?

Nothing is lost. What was logged stays, the session is summed up later, and the next one opens with what was left unfinished.

You steer. Agents keep up.

Agents keep the project in order. What matters, what's next and when something is done stays your call, whether you say it in the conversation or set it in the workspace.

Priorities

Say what matters most. Every agent sees it and works to it.

The plan

Decide what's next and who's on it. Agents follow your plan.

The record

When something's off, rename a feature, rewrite a doc or dismiss an idea.
